Japanese pattern stamp - ginkgo

I realised that the basic shape of yesterday's wave stamp would also make a great ginkgo leaf shape, so I carved it on the other side of the block.
Again I used a circle stencil to mark out the basic shape - the convex curve at the top, and the concave curves at either side.

Then I carved a notch at the top, like in a ginkgo leaf, and veins at either side.
I think this would make a great pattern for a wall, if you used some craft foam to make a larger stamp. I'm imagining it in gold, on an olive green background.

It also works well for creating a more random pattern - here I used it along with another ginkgo stamp I carved a few years back.
