Dollar cherry blossom

My final cherry blossom report of this week comes from Dollar, just a few miles beyond Cowden Garden which I talked about the other day. This is the first time that I’ve been to Dollar in cherry blossom season, although I’d heard from a friend that it was the best place to visit. It was certainly not a disappointment! The trees line the banks of a stream. The blossom hadn’t quite peaked when I was there, and I did think of going back the next week to see it again (but that was when I went to The Meadows instead!).

Cowden garden in spring

Today I’m continuing with the blossom theme, although there wasn’t quite as much at Cowden Garden as some other places. Most of the trees there are quite young at the moment, but I’m looking forward to seeing them mature over the years.
I bought a season ticket to the garden, so I’m looking forward to spending lots of time there this year. I enjoyed sitting in the tea house on such a sunny day reading a book.

Meadows cherry blossom

This week I’m going to be sharing some of my cherry blossom photos from recent weeks. The blossom has been spectacular this year!
I’m starting today with one of my favourite places to see the blossom, The Meadows in Edinburgh. There are two long paths which form tunnels of pink cherry blossom, and another path that has a mixture of pink and white.
It’s a wonderful time for people-watching. When the sun comes out people flock there to take selfies with the blossoms, and I just love seeing all the happy faces!
I enjoyed my time there so much on the Saturday that I went again on the Sunday, and I took 400 photos over the two days!

Meadows cherry blossom

I took two trips to The Meadows in Edinburgh this year to see the cherry blossoms. The first time I had a great time people-watching, and got some great photos of other people photographing the blossoms. The second time was when there was a good carpet of petals forming on the ground.

Lauriston Castle gardens

A rainy Sunday morning suddenly brightened up, and I quickly got myself ready for my first attempt at motorway driving! I’ve always had a fear of joining dual carriageways and motorways, and it was something I decided last year that I should work towards conquering. After a whole year of reading about it, watching videos, and paying attention while travelling by bus, it was finally time to try it!
Lauriston Castle was the perfect place for my first motorway trip, and my first time driving in Edinburgh. Lauriston Castle is somewhere I’ve only been a handful of times before, because I had to rely on buses (and on one occasion the bus home drove right past me!) or my parents.
I really wanted to visit the Japanese garden with the cherry blossoms beginning to fall from the trees, and it was the next best thing to being in Japan!
I mentioned on Facebook that I was there, and my cousin commented that she and her family were coming there in a little while. So I also got to spend time with them which was wonderful!
