30 November 2020

This month I have been mostly...

Watching:
I finally bought the delightful Pushing Daisies on DVD, one of the most colourful and quirky shows ever, and now I’m on the look-out for other shows in the same vein. I caught up with some episodes of Secret Scotland, and I started another re-watch of Law & Order Criminal Intent, and watched some more of First Wave, which I’ve not finished re-watching yet.

Reading:
I enjoyed Snakeskin Shamisen, the third in a series by Naomi Hirahara. I’m really getting into Mas Arai as a character, and I like the little aspects of Japanese culture and language. The rest of the books in the series are proving more difficult to find, but I have managed to order the next one from the US via Abe Books.

I’m finding The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller a bit slower going than Circe by the same author, but interesting all the same. After that I only have one book left to read for the Reading Women challenge 2020, which is a big fat volume about Frida Kahlo that’ll tick off all the remaining categories!

Listening:
I’ve been listening to the podcast Verified – Dust Up, about talcum powder causing ovarian cancer, and how this information was hidden by the manufacturer. Another podcast I’ve been listening to is Nice White Parents. I also enjoyed listening to the Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) soundtrack for the first time in ages.

Buying:
I managed to get all my Christmas shopping done online in about 20 minutes, and it all arrived in less than a week! And I've been charity shopping.

Doing:
I made a Little House on the Prairie outfit to wear at work to celebrate Scottish Book Week. I’ve been doing the Painting with Fonts sessions with Typetasting on Sunday evenings, which are good creative fun and a chance to socialise online. I've been doing some jigsaws. And my 100 day embroidery project is now complete!

Eating:
A lot of chocolate that I bought for one of the Typetasting sessions!
