Birdie paintings

When I got my blue birdies, I knew I had to paint them! For a long time I have admired the paintings of Carol Gillott, and the blue birdies reminded me of some of her watercolours - wish my paintings were half as good as hers, though! I've started a new large watercolour Moleskine with these paintings, and I may fill the whole thing with paintings of the birds from different angles!

Hi Emma! I'm a huge fan of parisbreakfasts too :) I love the way you've captured the blue birds, so sweet and simple ... all three paintings are quite lovely.

Hi Emma from Australia (came here from Scotland as a kid). I found you while searching for how to draw a Rennie-Mackintosh rose. I tasked myself to learn how to paint acrylics last year & I thought I'd best learn how to draw now. Having grown up in a zero art environment, your earring diagram really helped me compose my first attempt (of many, I'm sure) at drawing The Rose. Many thanks for that diagram, as I'd like to make myself some Mackintosh rose jewellery in the future, in resin for more permanence.
I just love these little blue birdies too, from some angles they remind me of the Australian Fairy Penguin (also known as the Little Penguin by some who are easily offended by words), as they're so soft & round & small & have that beautiful blue-grey colour. You just want to hug them - but they can bite & they have fleas LOL. Have a great day - Joanne

Hi Joanne! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. It really means a lot to me that people are finding the older content on my blog and reading it, as well as the new stuff. That Mackintosh rose earrings post has been one of my most visited posts ever, and it's so cool that you used the diagram to inspire your drawing!
