Geisha drawing

I think this is the finished drawing - if I fiddle with it any more I am bound to mess it up! I added some finishing touches of black and white ink.

Geishas - work in progress

Most of my coloured pencil drawings so far have been in a tiny 3x3" pad, so I wanted to try something a bit bigger and more adventurous. I'm not sure if the faces of these geishas have turned out exactly like the particular geishas in question, which is what usually happens when I draw people - they look human but nothing like the subject. I've included the original photo, taken in Gion, Kyoto. It was one of my favourite photos from last year's holiday.

A visit to the Lighthouse

Yesterday I visited the Lighthouse in Glasgow and had a look round the exhibition that's currently on there: The Scottish Show 07. The exhibition was throughout most of the building, and featured work by 34 Scottish designers. I especially liked the new signs for the toilets by ostreet, specially commissioned for this exhibition, which were an amusing twist on traditional toilet signs, and the knitted "raining cats and dogs" mobile by Donna Wilson.

Decorated Moleskine cahier

I'm going to art college in a few weeks time - but only for a one week course! I'd had some Moleskine cahier notebooks for a while, but hadn't decided what to do with them, until I decided I would need something to write notes in when I am doing the illustration course. I've already started using it to write down some of my thoughts about why I wanted to do the course.

Tote bag

I made this tote bag this evening, based partly on the pattern from Morsbags, and partly on my much-loved orange Ikea bag with its long straps and pocket.

Cityscape

I drew this from one of the photos I took in Kyoto. I have wanted for a while to draw the complex criss-crossing electrical cables, and I really liked how they contrasted with the woman wearing the kimono in this photo.

More jewellery drawings

I really enjoy drawing jewellery. The orange bracelet was drawn a few days ago and the others were drawn a few months back.

Green bracelet

Thank you P and C for the lovely presents, which you knew I wouldn't be able to resist drawing! I'll get round to drawing yours soon, Paul! Here's a little video of the drawing process:
