Creating an Amélie treasure tin

In the film, Amélie drops the lid of a perfume bottle, something like those below, and finds a tin full of mementos, which belonged to a boy who lived in her flat previously, and decides to return it to its owner.

Here's how to make a treasure tin of your own.

First find your tin. A flat rectangular vintage one is good, but any shape or style would do.

Gather your items:

Anything small that evokes a strong feeling of nostalgia e.g.

Small childhood toys

Jewellery

Cards (greetings, cigarette, playing)

Pressed flowers
School tie or badge
Letters

Find the perfect place to store or display your tin. But if you hide it behind the skirting board, remember to retrieve it if you move house!
