Peruvian thread-wrapped earrings

This style of earrings has been popular for a while now, but I hadn't realised until recently, when I googled Peruvian jewellery, that they were Peruvian! This is a great way to make a large, statement pair of earrings.

1. Cut two lengths of wire and twist them around a circular container, then take them off and squeeze them into teardrop shapes.

2. Take a wooden skewer and wind wire around it to form a long spiral.

3. Place a spiral on each teardrop, then create a loop at the top to hang the earring.

4. Tie the end of some thread to one side of the earring, then pull it down to the bottom of the earring at the other side. Wrap it round and round, moving around the spiral, until it is filled in. Tie off the other end.

These were quite fiddly to make, but I'm happy with the end result!
