Free rainbow lanyards were being given out at work for LGBTI inclusivity – the only problem being that I find wearing a lanyard really awkward when I’m leaning over the innards of computers, or crawling round the back of them! But I had the idea that I could fashion one into a wrist strap to hang my keys from – something that I find useful on days that I am wearing an outfit without pockets or a waistband that I can clip my keys to!
I cut the lanyard to a length that, when it was sewn up, would just and no more slide over my hand, leaving the clip attachment in place to clip onto my keys.
I then overlapped the ends and folded them in so they would be concealed, and sewed over them with red thread, in a rectangle with a cross through the middle to reinforce it.
